Marsha King, PhD
Senior Consultant
Marsha King is a leadership expert and executive coach who works with senior leaders to assess their skills and personality and improve their overall performance and results. Most recently, she has coached executives within AMITA Healthcare, Astellas, Baxter, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Rockwell Aerospace, iFLY, Kelton Research, KPMG, Shire Pharmaceuticals, PWC, Chick-fil-A and the Kellogg School of Management.
Marsha worked for Capital One, a Fortune 200 financial services firm based in McLean, Va., for nearly eight years. She began as the director of leadership acceleration where she led 40 employees to provide services across the organization, including succession planning, performance management, diversity, training and development, and talent management.
After three years, she became a managing vice president of HR and led HR consulting for Capital One’s staff groups and several other strategic businesses. Additionally, she led external HR branding and enterprise-wide change management as part of her responsibilities.
Prior to joining Capital One, Marsha was an executive coach for Development Dimensions International (DDI), a global human resource consulting firm based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She worked with several Fortune 500 firms including Qwest, Nortel, Steelcase, Whirlpool, and the U.S. Postal Service to assess leadership capability and coach leaders to demonstrate stronger performance. Prior to DDI, she worked with Pennsylvania State University as a faculty coach in the Engineering Leadership Program.
Marsha is also a well-respected adjunct professor at Northwestern University and George Washington University where she teaches in the Human Resource Development programs, specializing in research.
She holds a PhD in organization development and a master’s degree in instructional systems design/multimedia from Pennsylvania State University, and she has a B.S. in business administration (human resource management) from Ohio State University. She also earned certifications in negotiation and influence skills (Harvard University), change management (University of Virginia), and executive coaching (Georgetown University).
